Guys Marsh Play to Challenge the Perceptions of Prisoners

Inspired by the pressures and issues of prison life, prisoners at HMP Guys Marsh have, supported by Weston College, written and developed their own play.

Performing on 19th January, the play, Choices, is about the dark side of prison, looking at the issues of spice, bullying and harm. It is a powerful and hard-hitting script but it has a positive message about becoming the change we seek.

Fifteen learners, led by Weston College peer mentors, have written the play from scratch and have taken on roles including directing, producing and acting to inspire their peers to understand the issues.

The performance is taking place in the prison Chapel and is open to members of the public but please note that it is unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18. The show starts at 7pm and tickets are £12 each and all funds will go to the “Friends of Guys Marsh” organisation.

If you would like tickets or more details, please send an email to Isabella.franco@hmps.gsi.gov.uk.
